Dr. Dan Budenz
Author, Rehab Innovator, Family Advocate, Movie and Music Producer. Dr. Dan Budenz has developed, managed or influenced the leading mental health and addiction programs and services. He is the leading expert in whole family intervention and recovery, adolescent and adult fetal alcohol/chemical syndrome (AFACS), affected family member syndrome (AFMS), true recovery symptoms and prelapse and relapse theory.

Dr. Dan holds a Pre Med AA, BA in Psychology, MA in Counseling Psychology with AODA Internship and Ph.D in Humanistic Psychology with administrative, psychological, addiction and hospital based psychiatric educational techniques and experiences. He has been licensed as a CPC, CADC III, Supervisory CADC, CBT, Certified Forensic Therapist and International Addictions Counselor but now has transitioned to online only international rehab products, corporate interventionist, family therattainer, advice “Media Shrink” and “Celebrity Shrink”. His Hospital and specialty Hospital based mental Health and addiction services have been state and JCAHO licensed or approved. He has so many recognition awards and training certificates including Medical Family Practice Faculty for his years of supervising second and third year Family Practice residents and psychiatric residents in their hospital rotation they do not fit on his office walls. A brief bullet of his career is as follows:1960’s National Honor Society in High School First string Center of his High School Basketball teams. St. Vincent De Paul Seminary in Lemont and Morton West High School just outside of Chicago Receives Basketball Talent Scholarship to attend Northeastern Illinois University; Graduates with Honors 1970’s Manages Burger King Restaurants – Des Plaines Illinois Completes two year certified clinical internship, Grant Hospital in Chicago Completes Graduate studies while setting up and coordinating Hines Veterans Administration Hospital’s Addictions services in the Psychiatry Building. Established inpatient and outpatient addictions services at Loretto Hospital in Chicago. After a nationwide search Madison General Hospital (now Meriter) appoints Dan Budenz to direct and expand their additions services. Completes Doctorate Degree in Psychology from Union University 1980’s Publishes works on Relapse, Affected Family Syndrome (Co-Dependency) and research on addictions services and mental health. When Madison General (Meriter) Hospital decides not to expand inpatient and outpatient services, despite extensive waiting lists, Dr. Budenz opens his own clinic as Madison Family Institute. Dr. Budenz receives total community and Health Planning Council support. Madison Family Institute becomes the largest Private Addictions Treatment Center in Dane County. Clinics also licensed as Mental Health Treatment Facilities.It is the primary outreach and treatment facility for Impaired Physicians and Professionals. MFI assists in the development of the Budenz/Anderson Intensive outpatient facilities with Anderson Hospital facilities in Janesville and Beloit Wisconsin. Eventually MFI and Dr. Dan affiliates with DePaul Hospital in Milwaukee. MFI- DePaul operates inpatient and outpatient specialty hospital services at its new Hospital on Madison’s West Side, two outpatient clinics in Madison and opens inpatient services at Methodist Hospital of Madison and Divine Savior Hospital in Portage Wisconsin. DePaul Hospital purchases total clinic operations in Madison, Dr. Dan remains partners in land and real estate. Eventually leaves DePaul- MFI to seek other challenges. After a nationwide search and upon the recommendation of Betty Ford and her key administrative staff Dr. Dan accepts an Administration Director position at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Budenz continues his publications and national lecturing in the mental health and addictions fields and becomes known as “Celebrity Shrink” Appointed to Planning Faculty and Instructor at the UCLA Counselor Training Program. Completes filming of five part Video Series on Interventions and treatment of Addictions and other Brain Diseases Also instructs or is Adjunct Professor at UCF Santa Barbara, Vermont University, St. Mary’s College in Minnesota, Governor State University and Northeastern Illinois University. Serves on Doctoral committees for Union Institute and University as well as other caring Universities. 1990’s The first Release is “Family Intervention”. Dr. Dan Budenz is joined on camera by singer/actor/songwriter Paul Williams Dr. Dan establishes Addictions services in California similar to Madison efforts. Provides Consultation services to addictions and psychiatric treatment programs on clinical and managed care. Dr. Dan specializes in celebrity and High Profile Rehab clients. Establishes the previous quality family oriented services as American Family Institute. Dr. Dan and his staff provide quality cognitive restructuring, AODA, and Brain disease counseling to inmates of the Division of Intensive Sanctions. Dr. Dan contracted to provide Correction Services in Madison and Beloit Wisconsin. Dr. Dan continues to serve High Profile Patients Clinics managed by Dr. Dan and staff are a tremendous success. 2000’s Dr. Dan increases work with high profile Patients. Homes replace hospital beds where appropriate which reduces costs to patients, insurance companies and managed care organizations. These changes increase confidentiality and patient satisfaction. Dr. Dan becomes more vocal about political issues and the broken criminal justice system. Dr. Dan Segways into what he terms “Internet and Media Shrink” and through “Classic Rehab” makes his books and other media products which were once marketed to Treatment Centers, Libraries and correction centers more available to the pubic. Currently, Dr. Dan engages in business ventures enhancing clinical care, global education and real estate – especially for Rehab and corrections. Dr. Dan provides publicist services for the defense of his high profile and even national criminal cases. Dr. Dan continues to train Friesian Horses as therapeutic assistants and other exotic companions – Psychippoist. Begins assisting families and professionals more frequently in the Equine Industry. Dr. Dan advocates for smart Licensing of professionals to lessen special interests and turf protecting while advocating for patient access to expanded global comprehensive services. Advocates for world wide reciprocity. Theratainment, BUD, and Internet therapy continue to be a major focus. Renews his consulting and public appearance Health, Safety, Wealth and Rehab Building. Last appearance on A&E’s “The Drew Peterson Biography”. “Analyzing Monsters – Family Cures” was used as a reference for the show as well. Dr. Dan helps special effects legends and friends complete and distribute their last movie, “May Day”. May day is shown at the Central Florida Film Festival. May Day helped teens in ACCT (NAAF) avoid drugs and gangs. May Day also features his daughter in the role of Ginger. Dr. Dan responds to requests of his former seminary classmates to help the neglected slum dwellers of Nairobi. FHC is a reality that has used Dr. Dans family rehab and treatment (Books,DVD’s etc.) and now has free use of Online Rehab Clinic (ORC). $200,000 is being raised for a sanitary system and basic living habitats led by classmate Tom O’Hern.
